work

work is one thing in my life that i find difficult to weave through the rest of life.  it’s so easy to keep it separate.  here is a quote from a book called “Living The Christian Year” that i greatly appreciated.

“God gave us the capacity to work… and God gave us the responsibility to work, that is, to cultivate and develop the unlimited potential of his good creation…work had become difficult and distorted by sin – often rife with greed exploitation, corruption – but it has not ceased to be good.  God is honored by every human endeavor that comports with his good purposes fr humanity and creation… [by] holding a job, we participate in the capricious acts of God to redeem all things – persons, cultures, environments.  As theologian Miroslav Volf asserts, ‘The noble products of human ingenuity, ‘whatever is beautiful, true and good in human cultures’, will be cleansed from impurity, perfected and transfigured to become a part of God’s new creation’ (231).”

the idea

the idea of life as liturgy is one that has haunted me for several years now. at the core, the idea is simple; that the daily ebb and flow of life constitutes a rhythm of ritual that entwining the body, mind, and soul in such a way as to transform life into liturgical action.

this blog will use these ideas as premises for further reflection on the liturgy of life.  if you have a piece you would like to see posted here or a facet of liturgical living you would like me to cover, feel free to contact me at jord.incorporated@gmail.com.
